Product Review: Rose-Hip Vital Rosehip Oil

I must have been living under a rock, as it really hasn’t been that long since I discovered the benefits of rosehip oil. Since then, I have tried quite a few different brands, here are my thoughts on the *Rose-Hip Vital Rosehip Oil;

What They Say:
Rosehip Vital Rosehip Oil is a 100% pure and natural Certified Organic skincare product, cold pressed from the seeds of the Rosehip (Rosa Canina) that helps to support healthy-looking skin for use on the face and body

RRP: $19.95/$29.95 (30ml/50ml) - Available from select pharmacies

What I Say:

I have to be honest and admit that I had never heard of the Rosehip Vital brand before, so I naturally did some research, into the company and its products. And I was pleasantly surprised when I realised that the product is from an Australian owned company, and even better that the , the farming and manufacturing company for some of the Rose-Hip Vital products, is Hyben Vital, which is also a family-owned company in Denmark – my home country!! That instantly made me give the product several bonus points!! The actual oil used in the Rosehip Vital oil comes from Chile.

Funny thing is that when I was growing up, I was allergic to hyben (=rosehips), when they were flowering during summer, and waking up several mornings in a row with red and puffy eyes, my parents were forced to cut down the plants just outside my bedroom window!

I also remember that when I was a very little girl, I used to make my own perfume by infusing the flowers in water overnight… I thought it was the best perfume ever!!

Well, best get back to the Rosehip Vital Rosehip Oil. As mentioned above, by now I have tried several different brands of rosehip oil, but what sets the Rosehip Vital oil apart is the fact that it is cold pressed, which basically that means that the oil is extracted without heat (or solvents or chemicals, for that matter!). This helps keep all the beneficial ingredients in the end product so they aren’t lost in the manufacturing process, making the oil a lot more beneficial! The super fine filtering processes means the final product is said to be one of the finest quality Rose-Hip oils you can find! I’m impressed!

The Rosehip Vital Rosehip Oil is 100% Australian Certified Organic, and the oil is free from pesticides, artificial fertilisers or synthetic chemicals, as well as it is free from preservatives, colours and added fragrances. It is simply 100% pure and natural. More bonus points from me!

The Rosehip oil is suitable to use both morning and night. However, I must admit that I find that it is a little too greasy for my combination skin to use during the day. So I have been using it at night before bed and my skin simply feels amazing in the morning, supple, thoroughly moisturised and with a healthy glow. I use it. Especially during the warmer summer months, I use this on its own as a night serum, while during the cold winter months where my skin tends to be a little drier, I use a moisturiser on top.

Not all rosehip oils seems to be suitable for my combination skin, and several times I have had to stop using them after a week or so, as my skin simply gets too oily and starts breaking out. This has however not been the case with the Rosehip Vital Rosehip Oil, so it seems that the pure products really makes a difference for skin that suffer from breakouts from having too much oil applied.

Rosehip Oil contains naturally occurring Bioflavonoids which are vitamin-like substances which act as potent anti-oxidants, helping to reduce free radical damage in the skin. The Rose-Hip Vital Rosehip Oil is rich in naturally-occurring vitamins (Anti-Ageing Vitamins A and C; Anti-inflammatory Vitamin E), antioxidants (Lycopene & Beta-Carotene) and essential fatty acids (Omega 3, 6 & 9), to keep the skin hydrated and moisturised.

Rosehip Oil can help with:
  • Reduce appearance of stretchmarks and scars
  • Maintain skin hydration
  • Improve the appearance of dry skin
  • Diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Promote skin elasticity and texture
  • Repair sun damage and skin tissue
  • Reduce pigmentation

While I’ve been using the rosehip oil, I have noticed that my skin is extremely soft and well hydrated. My skin looks clearer, and skin tone is more even. My skin has never been clearer. I've had no breakouts major since using the Rose-Hip Vital Rosehip Oil, and actually, it is almost like it is no longer as greasy, in spite of the hot and humid weather we are still having.
I have also tried using the rosehip oil on my scars, but as these are very old surgery scars, I am yet to notice any major improvements, which I am not sure I will either seeing they are several years old.

It comes in a small glass bottle with a handy dropper at the end, which makes it easy to get just the amount you need. For those new to rosehip oil, it does not smell like roses!! Rather, it has a very natural scent, which I however do not mind. This scent fades quickly after the oil has been absorbed into the skin, it does not bother me.

The Rosehip Oil is very concentrated, and you only need a few drops for the full face, so the large 30ml bottle will last you a long time. So at $19.95, I find this an absolute bargain product suitable for all skin types, and I highly recommend you try it.

  4. Hi I've just started using it and love it. The texture if my skin has improved. Since introducing oils into my skin care regime my combo skin had also evened out. Bio oil has mineral oil/petro chemicals in it and can cause congestion. I wouldn't use it on my face. Loved the article! Thanks
