Product Review: Allegra Rhodes Sweet Apple & Grapefruit Hand and Nail Cream

I am addicted to hand creams, so I always have one close by. In my car, in my handbag, on my bedside table, in the powder room, by the kitchen sink, on the side table next to the couch… and one next to the computer. Not that I really have particularly dry hands. I just love the feeling of having super soft hands. Here are my thoughts on the *Allegra Rhodes Sweet Apple & Grapefruit Hand and Nail Cream;

What They Say:
"Indulge your senses and treat yourself daily with this luxurious hand & nail cream. Rich ingredients moisturise your skin and strengthen nails. A luscious fuse of candied Apple with refreshingly zesty Grapefruit makes this fragrance crisp, sweet and delightfully reviving. A mélange of Tuberose, Blonde Woods and White Amber are present to ensure The sweetness lingers."

RRP: $32.95 (175ml) – Available from Allegra Rhodes Online

What I Say:

Allegra Rhodes “believe that happiness and gorgeousness isn’t reserved only for the special occasions or the rich and famous. Every woman deserves to enjoy true luxury every day, at the tip of her fingers”.

What sets the Allegra Rhodes product apart from others is that  they are made using hand-picked Eau de Parfum based fragrances, making them smell utterly divine. And on top, they are certified parabens-free and sulphate-free. The company is Australian owned, the products made in Australia, and of course not tested on animals!

The first thing that struck me was the gorgeous packaging with the gorgeous monochrome black and white pattern on the outer box. The box also has pale green sides, which represent this particular scent, while other scents available in the range (Red Lychee, Ocean Mist, and Cherry Blossom) are represented by other colours.

Inside the box is the simple but stylish and stylish square pump bottle with the hand cream. It has a black pump and also simple black product labels making it look very classy and luxurious. And as always I really love products that come with a pump as it just makes it so easy and mess free to get just the right amount of cream needed.

The next thing that strikes me, is how amazing the hand cream smells. The bittersweet grapefruit has been mixed with candied rosy apple, making it smell fresh and summery. It has heart notes of white amber, tuberose and blonde woods, for a reviving and energetic fruity cocktail. In spite of containing grapefruit, for me, the sweet apple is the strongest scent, and it actually reminds me of one of my favourite perfumes, DKNY Be Delicious!

The actual scent is quite strong, and does linger on the hands for quite a while – in fact, I had someone comment on the lovely scent over half an hour after I’d used the hand cream!! But in saying that, I really enjoy this fragrance so I don’t mind one bit - although of course it can clash a little with your other perfume.

The hand cream absorbs quickly and instantly left my hands feeling so soft and smooth, and thoroughly hydrated and moisturised. The cream has a thin consistency and it absorbs instantly, without leaving behind a greasy residue, which is great, as there is nothing worse than a greasy hand cream during the day.

Often moisturisers containing perfume can be very drying, but that is far from the case. After now having used the hand and nail cream for a while, my hands are feeling softer, smoother and more moisturised than ever, and my nails have also benefited, feeling and looking healthy and strong.

At $32.95 this is not a cheap hand cream, however it is so luxurious and of such high quality, and it is so concentrated that the large 175ml bottle will last you a long time. And it is so beautifully packaged that it will make for a beautiful gift for someone, or a perfect luxurious treat for yourself! This may be the first Allegra Rhodes product that I have ever tried – but it definitely won’t be my last!

  1. I have to admit that I don't really use hand creams that often. Currently I'm using a "cheap" one from Essence, but this stuff that you're talking about sounds amazing! And the packaging is soo beautiful <3!
