What I say:
Always having been a big Queen fan, I remember clearly the
day when it was announced that Freddie Mercury was found dead. It was in 1991,
and I was living in London at the time, and the news was on the front pages of
all the newspapers. Such a sad day!
The name Killer Queen references the classic rock song written by Freddie Mercury.

The actual perfume, Killer Queen contains:
Top Notes: Wild Berry, Dark Plum & Bergamot
Middle Notes: Red Velvet Flower,Natural Jasmine
Sambac & Rainbow Plumeria
Base Notes: Cashmeran,
Natural Patchouli Heart & Liquid Praline
And as soon as I’ve put on the perfume, I can smell the
bergamot, plum and berries used – it is a dark fruity scent, which is a little
heavy at first, yet not so heavy that it is overwhelming. Once worn for an hour
or so, the scent does fade a little, and I start to notice the more subtle
middle notes, and in particular the scent of patchouli.
The perfume has a god staying power, and at night, some
10-12 hours after putting it on, it is still very noticeable. And in fact, even
the next morning before jumping in the shower, I notice that there is still a
slight scent remaining, which is pretty impressive.
Personally I prefer light, fresh green scents, so I have to
admit that I do find this perfume is a little heavy, especially for wearing
during the day, so for me it is definitely a fragrance to wear at night time
for going out.
The actual bottle is described as "Inspired by a queen’s
scepter, the distinct jewel-shaped bottle in shades of royal red and gold
portrays sexy sophistication and lawless luxury. The faceted bottle rests languorously
on its side, like a loose, precious gem fit for a Queen. The regality of the
bottle is enhanced with a rich gold crown showcasing a custom crest capturing
Katy Perry’s playful essence - regal cats, a music clef, hearts and dagger."
The ruby design of the bottle is unique and glamorous, and
the actual lid is gold crest with Katy Perry’s initials KP engraved. Unfortunately,
while it is a novel idea and it looks nice having the bottle lie down on one of
the faceted sides on your dressing table, I don’t find it very practical. The bottle doesn’t seem very steady to me, and
I’d be afraid to knock it over, so unfortunately I find it safer to keep it in
the box. But as it comes in a gorgeous red box, with a kind of ‘quilted’
design, with small gold crowns on it, I don’t mind too much. And actually, as I
do have quite a few perfumes I rarely leave them out on display, mainly because
I am aware that they will keep for longer if they are kept in a cool dark place
– so consequently I mostly leave them in their boxes stored in a cabinet.
What I Like:
- The bottle has a glamorous unique design
- It has a good staying power, lasting all day
- The price is good for a gorgeous fragrance
- That it is readily available at pharmacies
What I Don’t Like:
- The design of the bottle, as I’d be afraid that I’d knock it and it would topple over and break.
Overall, it is a lovely perfume, and I love the fact that it
is also a tribute to Freddie Mercury. If you like a slightly heavy fruity and
floral scent, then this perfume will be perfect for you.
