My skin has all days been temperamental and I've struggled with breakouts. And best as I think my skis clearing up, I get yet another hormonal round of blemishes. But lately the Medik8 Blemish AOX Oil-Free Antioxidant Serum has been a life-saver.
The Medik8 Blemish AOX is not a new product, is has simply been repackaged to a larger size, from 30ml to 50ml, to make it better value and it has been renamed from its previous name, Beta AOX.
The Blemish AOX is a super lightweight and oil-free antioxidant serum designed for blemish prone skin. It contains among others;
- Copper PCA - patented antioxidant ingredient to fight free-radicals and prevent environmental damage and premature skin ageing
- Beta-Glucan - key ingredient responsible for skin maintenance by assisting in natural cell repair, and reduce the appearance of breakouts and scarring
- Niacinamide - for its moisturising and anti-inflammatory properties to help reduce irritation and the appearance of redness. Especially important for people with problem skin.
- Rosemary Extract - powerful botanical antioxidant Ginseng/Portulaca/Centella extracts, a blend of plant extracts and actives clinically proven to gently improve the appearance of facial fine lines and wrinkles
The serum can be used morning and/or evening after cleansing and prior to your usual moisturisee, and it has a gel-like texture that is so light that it absorbs immediately into the skin without any greasiness, but rather leaves the skin with a velvety soft and mattified look, which as someone with combination skin, I really like. It has a slightly odd scent, but it is very subtle, and it fades quickly, so personally I don't mind.
I started using it morning and evening as I was going through a bad round of breakouts, but I quickly saw improvements in my skin, with breakouts clearly reducing the once I already had in not only apperance and size, they also seemed to clear up faster, as well as I seemed to get less and less, and not to mention, smaller and smaller breakouts, so I started using it in the morning only. And used under my day-cream, it also works brilliantly under makeup.
I am not sure that I have noticed any improvements from an anti-ageing point of view, with lines and wrinkles and so on, but in terms of my breakouts, I am seriously impressed with this serum, and how it has made such a significant improvement to my skin, and in such a short period of time. Often blemish product irritate and dry out the skin, but not this one, it is so gentle on the skin, which I really love too.
No, this serum doesn't come cheap, but you only need a little - and as well as now only using once daily, I have also started to 'just' use it in the places I tend to get my breakouts, such as in the t-zone, which makes it last longer. If you're struggling with breakouts, and like me, have tried just about anything, then I highly recommend that you put this one to the test.
